Guys can cook too!

Good morning!
I really believe that kids need to learn to cook....guys too!  So I have been teaching our boys to cook!  They pick out what they want to cook, and I make sure to have the supplies in the house.  Not only do they appreciate what I do on a daily basis, but they learn a valuable skill, they will not be reliant on someone else, or fast food and they can appreciate good food!

I often take photos of our boys cooking  and their food!
Nicolle created some food themed chipboard and it was perfect for the photos of our boys cooking!

I wanted it to be bright and fun and what better than the
Graphic 45's Cafe Perisian!  Lots of simple layering and die cut circles using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Circle die

The title 'good food, good life' I painted with Prima paints then added a bit of glitter!

Keeping with the circle theme I also painted the 6x6 circle panel with the same paints!

Family layout - Elizabeth Craft Designs

Good morning!
I am excited to show you my newest layout for ECD!
I love to make flowers and the fabulous dies from ECD make it easy and fun!
I used a beautiful photo from Beaultography and a sketch from Stuck? sketches

Step 1: gather supplies - 2 sheets of 12x12 paper and smaller pieces or more 12x12 for accents, die cutting, fussy cut images and flower making, burlap and adhesive
Step 2: cut second sheet of paper to 11.5x11.5 and cut a photo mat
Step 3: fussy cut desired images
Step 4: die cut one love life tag with heart and one with tree, Free as a bird bird cage and bird, Bunch of flowers - each one x2, Big flower set 1 x2, leaves from Color My Flowers x3,  Amazing from Die Set Words 2 all out of coordinating paper and ink edges
Step 5: cut two different size hearts from the True Love die and a circle from the Stitched Circles out of burlap
Step 6: make all the flowers
Step 7: adhere the two papers together then all elements to the papers
Step 8: mat photo and adhere using 3D dots or foam dots

To Make The Rose like Flowers

1) cut this set from the bunch of flowers die

2) using the ball end of your tool rub your flower - all three sections

3) till all three look like this

4) using the smallest flower die cut - glue two petals together that are across from each other on one side

5) glue the other sides together to form a cone like shape

6) glue the next petal fully onto the cone by applying glue at the base of the petal and pushing it onto the cone - continue with the other petals

7) glue the bud that you just made onto the middle size die cut flower and push up around the bud
it should look like the above flower

8) glue the two layers onto the final and largest die cut pushing up around the bud

Here are some close ups of the project

Here is the sketch I used from Stuck Sketches

Our Graduate - Creative Embellishments

Good morning everyone!
Cody is grade 12 this year and although he is going back for his victory lap he does graduate this year.

His pictures from lifetouch were amazing and we really could not decide on one or two so we decided to buy the proofs instead!

For the three pieces of Creative Embellishments chipboard - the Globe Set,  the circle panel, and the graduate title I inked in ground espresso distress ink, then heat embossed with two colors from Lindy's gilded Gilded Burgundy Brass and Midnight Bronze

I created a fun banner using the Penelope Dee paper - which I must be living under a rock because I have not worked with it before - and I LOVE the quality of the paper!

I fussy cut the plaque and added a few flowers

The flowers are from various companies but match the theme and papers so well!
Finally I added some splatters of white and black mists.  To make sure I did not get any on my photo but could still be around m photo I cut a pice of shipboard the size of my photo and covered the photo, then splattered my mist.

Love - Elizabeth Craft Designs monthly challenge!

Hi everyone!
Elizabeth Craft Designs is having their monthly challenge!
For today's challenge Elizabeth Craft Designs are giving away a $20 Gift Card to use on our website to 3 winners

To enter simply leave a comment on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Challenge post and tell us "What Elizabeth Craft Designs dies or stamp sets would you use to create a Valentine’s Card??”

We will select 3 lucky winners in a random drawing

The winners will be announced on Friday, February 1st on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog.
Now for this challenge I made a layout that celebrated the love between my husband and I.
We have been together for almost 20 years...he still makes my heart skip and beat and my  I still get butterflies in my tummy....

to start with I used the Wood Effect paper from ModaScrap from ECD.

I then stamped this really cool Circles Background stamp also from ECD I added some texture paste through a brick stencil, then started misting.  I love to mix colors, I used blues, and teals, and greens and pink to get the effect I wanted!

The flowers are all handmade using the Small flower die and the large flower die and the trio set of leaves

For the title I first cut the Love Struck heart out of the wood effect paper and inked the edges to get some definition.  I then cut the title using the True Love Die out of pink cardstock from the vintage pack

I added more layers by starting with burlap to add texture, then a torn piece from the wood effect paper, then some lace I sprayed (it was way too pink) and bunched up for more texture and dimension and adhered it using the ECD double sided tape
I die cut the Valentines edges out of the same pink paper and tucked them in

Christmas layout - Creative Embellishments!

Good morning!
I caught my husband and oldest son at a sweet moment during our Christmas celebration....they were just sitting back enjoying each others company and I snapped this photo!

I started by layering the gorgeous Kaisercraft papers and inking the edges.

I then made some poinsettia's using the Tim Holtz tattered poinsettia die.  added some white texture paste and then some Elizabethe Craft Designs microfine glitter.  I added a few black recollection flowers and more texture paste for the wintery look!

The title piece I wanted to stand out so I embossed the Christmas and Joy using sparkly red embossing powder.  Up against the black I think it really stands out!

I LOVE the holly and berry corners! I embossed them with black tinsel embossing powder then added some red liquid pearls - very festive!  The prefect accent for my Christmas page!
